"That's okay, you didn't know," Noah says, and he means it. If he'd wanted anything he would have told them weeks ago, but the idea of a birthday when you're dead just feels...strange and sad and kind of pointless.

But he's told them, so he looks over at Adam and tries a smile. "Sure," he says, even though he hasn't eaten since they got back. But maybe he should, maybe it'll help them feel even at least a little normal again.
