Adam, because he's already ripped one bandage off, supposes that whatever it is on Ronan's back will be the gentlest coming from him and he slips around without fanfare or manipulation so that he can see Ronan's back.

"I..." he starts and the truth is too strange to be believed. "I dreamed Cabeswater. It says 'I dreamed Cabeswater.'"

And then he remembers all of Ronan's old fears about Cabeswater manipulating Adam to make Ronan happy and the terribly clarity of it is like cold water.
